A Message from Clerk & Comptroller, James M. Swisher, Jr.

In preparation for the projected impact of Hurricane Idalia on our area, the Clerks of Courts Office will be closed starting tomorrow through Wednesday. Chief Judge Melissa Olin has cancelled all non-emergency court proceedings for Tuesday 8/29 and Wednesday 8/30.

The safety and well-being of staff is of paramount importance. Given the potential severity of the hurricane, it is necessary for us to take proactive measures to ensure everyone’s safety. By closing the courthouse during this time, we aim to minimize any potential risks and allow you to focus on your personal safety and preparation for the hurricane.

We will reassess the situation on Wednesday and provide further updates. Please check our website for future updates. Emergency On-call procedures will be followed.

I encourage you to stay informed about the hurricane through official sources, follow all safety guidelines from local authorities, and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of yourselves and your loved ones.

Stay Safe,
James M. Swisher, Jr.
Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller
Columbia County, Florida
